Well, those of you who were hoping for a Disney’s Hercules reference have got what you wanted! And it was a song sung by a corn-dog selling fairy.
Gosh, this one was a doozie. After completely finishing an almost totally different comic, I realized that I wasn’t happy with it and ended up redoing the whole thing. Thanks to my girlfriend for being my co-writer with this one, I was almost ready to throw the whole concept out before she helped salvage it.
Some of you may be weirded out by seeing actual feelings in your Legend of Maxx comics, but the truth is that I don’t think I could make a comic that remained perpetually nonsensical and unfeeling, and I don’t think I’d want to anyways. Humor will always be at the core of Legend of Maxx, but– as you’ve probably seen before– I also want to incorporate some slightly less goofy story and character development elements as the plot marches on. So to those of you who like this stuff: don’t worry, there’ll be more of it. And to those of you who don’t: don’t worry, this isn’t going to become a drama comic from here on out.
Well that was a really long blog post, but I have one more thing to go over before I bow out: episode 1 of the fan-made Legend of Maxx video series has dropped, so head on over to check it out!
And with that… it’s very late. See you Wednesday, folks!
-Jesse
Another great one! π
Agreed. I wasn’t expecting that at all…
It’s not wise to throw things are Aley, More BWEEN! antics.
at Aley,*
Not much to say except 1. Yay, no stupid arguments! and 2. Don’t make Hannah mad.
Meh, video not so good. Comic good though. π
I thought the video was ok, they could have voiced Maxx a little better, like make him sound more hyper, or give him a surfer accent(both voices have crossed my mind at different points reading this comic.)
Where did you access the video?
Did you find it? There’s a link in Jesse’s comment above.
You can tell by the comment that Jesse is’t too impressed by the video, he’s just too polite.
Helloooo, Packer.
Finding good voice actors is more difficult than you might think. However, I think that the actor I found to play Maxx did wonderfully.
I thought it was pretty good for a first attempt. Kudos.
Oh god…
Great comic as always! And a little bit of drama doesn’t hurt anybody, unless you add the murder of a character :p You my friend, have made a good choice. Waiting for the next comic! (For some reason, I’m expecting some kind of yandere reaction from Hanna when she found Cyril and Ina in some akward and unexpected situation. Because… WHY NOT!!)
Hannah will probably end up murdering Ina, and breaking the curse anyway.
Ina’s still a skeleton as of now though, so she would still have the properties of the vikings.
hey Jessie I want to start a web comic and I know how to start a website but I need to know how to make the comics what do you use to make the comics is it a download or what please reply THANKS A BUNCH
Go to the “about” link and see if he answers your question there. Someone else asked this question a while back.
I think Jesse uses the app ‘paint’ to do the designing, but I’m not sure about the whole website thing, you could just publish it to a newspaper.
Thank u both I can’t wait to make a comic
Can you tell us what it’s going to be about? :oD
Yea! tell us
Error: No Commas
I find this comic humorous, actually. For some strange reason I find murder and fairies being hooked funny.
Your name seems familiar…
Stop
Stop making me feel this feel
I don’t want or need it
(feels are ok I guess)
Hey, its Yahtzee!
:p
I don’t know how Jesse captures emotions so well with pixels…yet he does. Amazing comic as usual.
I don’t want to be rude, but I was rather disappointed with the Legend of Maxx video series. I thought they were actually going to make a video out of the comics, instead it’s just a readout.
Oh well, it’s all good anyway. Nice comic Jesse!
For what it is, and with a budget of around Β£0, I’d say they did it ok. They could have bought a better audio recording system and tried their hand at animating but it wasn’t toooo bad. :/ I couldn’t’ve done it better.
It was originally going to be video, but then my modders and the rest of the video crew bailed on me. After that I decided to stick with having it just be audio, that way I wouldn’t have to worry about unreliability.
I really liked it! I thought the characters were casted and done well. Looking forward to the next one
I think you guys did a pretty good job considering it was your first video! You obviously put a lot of effort into it and it paid off. Scaling it back from an animation was a good idea– better to do that and get something out than refuse to compromise your vision.
In the 8th panel, Hannah’s axe completely disappears. Its annoying me. Anyone else?
Still, LOVE IT! Aley has no sentimental feelings for anyone else whatsoever π
Can’t wait for the next comic! Got addicted the past couple of days after I clicked on that ad. So worth it! π
Get off her case, Aley. She won’t say she’s in love.
If that skeleton had hair (or flesh for that matter)… that ax throw would of been a close shave.
Ba dun tshh
I find the drama element is improving the comic, all these arcs and new characters give the comic a new dimension.
Aley… not the best timing in the world…
Well.
The video series is unsatisfying, but the comic is as good as usual.
TELL ME WHERE TO FIND THE VIDEO SERIES OR I WILL GOUGE OUT YOU EYEBALLS!!!
oops! i deedunt reed description. i tend to get violent at times. im sure it isnt the coffee
I agree, It’s probably the cocaine.
I sense tsundere -3-
If you had to reference a Disney movie… I feel you picked the right one. π
I don’t know if its just me feeling like the comic needs to get on with it, I feel like the viking ship has been in the comic a bit too long, I think there needs to be a change of scenery.
Eh, tried watching the youtube video, but it kinda takes away from the voices that I already have in my head when reading this comic XD Keep up the great work! Gotta love bad@$$ Hannah π
I guess it’s hard to apease all of the followers, as we all have different backgrounds and want the characters to sound like ourselves.
I love the way Aley looks when he/she is pulled off stage.
It’s really soft looking.
The cane never gets old
I hate her. stupid nurse…
