I like how Xane alternates between being funny and just plain frightening. Hopefully his appearance managed to surprise some you upon reading!

        @The Edge of Terra: I don’t know, didn’t the angel say at one point that the area the NPCs go to when they die is more of a “heavenly waiting room” and not heaven itself?

        @Krav: Oh yeah. I do think there will be some kind of event with the vikings and/or Ina or Remiel will be a bastard and keep them separated.

        99.9% dead doesn’t mean dead. Maxx is probably around the “10% alive” range. *Same with Heather, Unsure about Aley since s/he was only thrown*

        He got cleanly stabbed like 6 times, with a sword that killed a goblin warrior in one strike… He should at least be in a hella worse condition…

        Same! It was.. frightening and hilarious at the same time. I get a sort of psychotic (more so than normal, at least..) June vibe from him. If June were a dude.

        Hmm… Actually… You may have a point. June could be disguising herself as a test for Maxx, AND notice Xane’s position in the last panel. Look familiar? I think either

        2. June/Xane is a Zelda/Sheik type thing

        3. June is brainwashed.

        Problem is we saw this Xane character before when June was still around no? or was she gone by then. or was she just leaving? I DON’T REMEMBER! nonetheless, being enemys Xane and June are suspiciously similar. I now remember that June did the exact same facial expression and action from a long while back that Xane just did in the last panel.

        June and xane probably dated and thats why they act the same because their compatible or pretty much the same

        @Pythor728 Ooooh yeah! Remember from the interviews, June was asked if she hated someone more than anyone else, and she replied she had an ex? That is entirely possible.

    is Hana going to go hulk angry now? and Maxx just absolutely destroy Xane? Cyril is probably gonna have to fight some weird inner demons or whatever or have Hana heal him. I can’t wait for 402 Jesse keep up the amazing work!

      I expect Cyril to encounter Remiel now. You can’t heal getting stabbed in the heart just like you can’t fix stupidity.

        I just realized something… For hard mode, you need to sacrifice the helpful Guide in the underworld, summoning a demon. Later, you find a powerful wizard. Cyril is a wizard in this comic, and he is a guide…. Think back to the LOTR movies…. You see where I’m going with this?

        One of the most misquoted lines there. It’s better to go off the books, where he says “You cannot pass!” instead of “You shall not pass!”

      The difference between them is that I hope Xane dies soon, unlike June. And by soon I mean next comic. Cyril is worthy to take a guy like Xane with him, and he’s got that fancy blue shanker close enough to him to actually do it…

    I’m imagining Next comic with Hannah desperately trying to save Cyril’s life, Aley crying, and Maxx, being like “Meh, it’s happened before. No biggie”

    At this point… well… I know Maxx will live through this encounter… but the question is what will happen next.

    I’m still vouching for the whole “they (or just Maxx) get captured and then they (or just Maxx) has to escape with the Tinkerer, Mechanic, and maybe the Old Man (if he is even going to be in this comic).”

    So Maxx was stabbed in the chest with a red sword and is still kinda fine, and Cyril was stabbed in the chest with a blue sword and is now pale and dead.

    I wonder what he does when he kills someone and they come back? This can’t be the first NPC he has killed. Still Cyril will likely have some words to share with his angel before he respawns.

    PLOT TWIST, multiplayer world and somebody shoots Xane in the back of the head with a bow (Ranger to fill out the Warrior=Maxx, Mage= if you don’t know then you don’t get to)

    I think the daggers give Xane powers. Remember when Xane pulled out that dagger and went “Wouldn’t you mind if I went first, then?” then teleported behind Maxx? I think it gives him teleportation. The other one is less obvious, but maybe it gives him +10 attack. I dunno.

      In the last two strips, when Xane hits something with the orange/red blade, one of his eyes goes from blue to orange.

    PLEASE let Cyril live! This is too sad! 🙁 I love all the good main characters (obviously). It was all quite peaceful and happy, but now it’s more realistic and gritty! D: I hope it doesn’t cause someone we should care a lot about to die.

      You do know that Jesse has established that NPCs respawn, right? As in… Cyril will be back sooner or later (the following day). Till then. More Remmy and Cyril hilarity due to the thing that happened a few comics back involving Cyril’s wife.

        Uhhh… not possible as it took a long time for them to get to the Dungeon. Even without that little unexpected detour involving the Vikings. It would take a long time or at least long enough that Maxx, Hannah, and Aley would all be dead at the hands of Xane.

    The “Squish” Squished tyrone and he, in the meantime, was throwing them a MiniShark, in the next comic they notice a lying gun around, maxx picks it up and goes guns blazing.

    I was trying to see if I could create Xane in Terraria but it seems like his hairstyle doesn’t exist in the game. Jesse, did you design Xane’s hairstyle yourself? Or am I just blind, because I actually have a stylist in one of my worlds.

      The Closest Hairstyle to Xane’s that I could find was #13. But it’s missing that long braid that he has that I actually just noticed today. I thought it was actually a part of his cape or cloak or whatever it is.

        I pretty much designed Xane from the ground up, so it’ll be pretty hard to mimic his appearance with in-game assets. His frame is also smaller than the standard male frame– he’s built more like the female Dryad are.

        Oh I see. Well I got it as close as possible. Now I just need a Cape for him. And from what I saw on the Terraria Wiki, the Purple Gradient Dye is the closest to the color of Xane’s actual cape.

    Wow… Boy is it going to be funny when Cryil goes to the heaven lobby. I imagine because he disrupted a heavenly concept that’s out of his league or whatever, and go to some place where there are no angels he can disrupt. You know, instead of going to the heaven lobby. I imaging next comic a giant block of dirt will “crush” Xane and have him “die.” Notice I used quotes. Man! this guy is fast! I really do think June and Xane with get along though.

    I think All of them changed a bit actually.
    Make part of the blade of grass get broken during the upcoming battle and have the remaining part look like the new blade of grass? And since they don’t have the others yet just use the new ones?

    Maxx’s blade of grass should, power up, or somthing, gain it’s new in game texture, and increase his speed to match Xane’s… Or something.

    Man, you just can’t kill that speedy Naiad assassin jerk. Can’t stab him, can’t shoot him, can’t crush him, and not even Aley’s Deus Ex Machina laser can hurt him. Heck, I’m willing to bet the Demoman’s TNT charge wouldn’t even hurt him.

    We need something incredible, something amazing, something EPIC!

    But in all seriousness, that’s just how I deal with really fast, dodgy or teleporting enemies in Terraria. ROBOT PIRANHA MISSILES!!!
