Comic #350

Comic 350! Yaaay! Another sort-of milestone down! Feels like only yesterday that comic 300… no, it actually doesn’t. But still, it’s hard to imagine sometimes that I’ve gone through the comic-making process 350 times! Hopefully there’s many more to come.

This is another one that went through a lot of revisions. I worry sometimes that the comics don’t make as much sense as they should– I’ve seen otherwise great comics pulled down by confusing story arcs and artwork, so hopefully I don’t suffer the same fate. But hey, it’s done now and I’m pretty happy with the result!

    1. Hah, thanks! No, I’m ashamed to say that I grabbed the image for the cave from the Internet. That panel went through a lot of changes; I was considering a side view for a while. I was also considering making it upside-down to sync with Cyril’s viewpoint but it looked too weird.

  1. “He’s screaming already.” It’s kind of unfortunate that this is Maxx’s standard response. Here’s to the next few hundred! The long body shot of the Eater you did is my iPod background. 😉

  2. Replace the background with a Dark Room and a serial killer. That’s the degree that Cyril probably views it.

    1. Maxx must first make their way out of the ice caves and then descend into the dungeon, I think that’s where the niads live.

  3. Laufen Laufen! Rocket boots, avay! AAAAAaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAA! Smack. I love this guy. And I love the fact that there is suddenly a snow flinx stampede

    1. Yeah, as with many of my characters, the Tinkerer is growing on me as I draw more of him. Poor guy can’t catch a break!

      1. So who’s going to end up with worse luck? Cyril or the Tinkerer? (So far I’m guessing Cyril because he has to face “aftermath”)

  4. Rocket boots were probably the most item I got at the time. And the comic manages to make it seem useless. That’s pretty good.
And you just love torturing Cyril, don’t you.

  5. That panel where you see what Cyril is seeing is brilliant. The dimensionality of the world just got more confusing.

  6. I’ve lost it on the last two panels. Nurse smiling with Flinxi behind and Guide’s reaction made my day.
Good Job Jesse, you’ve made me laugh out loud, it rarely happens.

  7. I wouldn’t worry about being confusing, this panel is crystal clear. And also funny.

I can’t recall the comic ever being confusing, you do a surprisingly good job to say you’re working mostly with game sprites. The arcs and whooshes you put behind people who’re jumping/bouncing/falling really help to take ambiguity out of the movement.

  8. Am I the only person who noticed that Cyril just saw something in 3-D? WHAT THE **** ELSE ARE YOU HIDING??!!
