Comic #300

DUN DUN DUUUNN

It’s finally here! Comic 300, everyone– I hope you like it! I took a bit of a different direction with this one… comic 200 was all action, and I figured 300 was a good opportunity to introduce some new plot.

So with this comic, I got to revisit a familiar locale and give it… well, an inverse-facelift, I guess. And I got to design a new character! (Black robe dude doesn’t really count). I have to admit, I’m super-excited for more of braid-dude in the future. When I first wrote the comic’s script, he didn’t really have a personality– he was mostly just a face for black robe to talk to. But somewhere in the process of creating the comic he grew into the foul-mouthed, hammock-making, dual-wielding bloke he is today. EXPECT HIM

With this milestone, as with all of them, I’d like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your support of the comic. I can’t believe how far this project has come since its humble origins, and I’m excited to see where it will go in the future! I hope you continue to read and enjoy, and I hope I have the opportunity to carry on with many more comics!

So now we’re at 1/4… or perhaps 1/6… or 1/10… who knows…?

      1. It’s the implied etiquette of commenting. If you say first politely and don’t go “OMG I GOT FRIST!!!!!!11!11!1!” then people think you’re awesome. Bragging rights are a terrible thing to waste.

      2. Bragging rights? Yes, because getting getting first isn’t just luck or anything. In case you didn’t notice that was sarcasm, and is people like you most commenters hate because you think it is so great to get first, instead of actually commenting on the content provided.

      3. I think people have a right to say first but in like a normal comment like “That was a good comic also first.” Now THAT is a good way to imply you are first (if you even wanna) it’s just annoying to say “FIRST YAY!!!!!!!” Or “This comment is reserved to stop first spam (that is spam to ya know). So RRRANT OOOVER!

    1. My posterior isn’t psychotic, is it?! You must not like me because I sealed away the corruption. Well hey, it’s the demon’s fault! I didn’t plan anything.

      1. And it’s OK to say first if you say it along with a review or opinion/inference of the comic. It’s not OK to go OMG I GOT FISRT!!!!!!11!11!!!!!!1!! OOOOOMMMMMGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOW or simply say First and leave it at that.

  1. Yay finally 😀 and now with some Star Wars reference maybe? AWESOME Holy mother of fudge I can’t wait for 301 nwn (or it will be 300 1/2 again? :P)

  2. Happy 300th comic, Jesse! I’ve been a fan since the first few comics and I just wanna say you’ve improved a lot since when you first started. Here’s to another 300 comics *holds up a Greater Mana Potion*

    1. Thanks, Frostbiter! Yeah, the changes the comic’s gone through since the beginning are pretty crazy looking back.

  3. who else read the shadowy figure’s in an old wise slow tone? somewhat like red from penumbra.? 😛 and congratulations on comic 300 Jesse 🙂 I say! the plot…. thickens… it does indeed…

  4. An informant, huh? Wonder who that might be. Maxx’s fight with the Eye was mentioned. It might be someone who actually witnessed the fight, i.e. Aley, Hannah, or Cyril.

Or it could be anyone. Honestly, my money’s on the merchant-he seems like the kind of guy who would do anything for a few gold coins, including betray the world to the Naiad.

In the end, there’s only one way to find out. Can’t wait to see more.

    1. my guess is it tyrone.1.hes got a black robe like the leader.2.hes always watching from the distance 3.he could be posing to have an excuse

      1. Also he wouldn’t talk about himself in the 3rd person to the Naiad, and they don’t even know they exist.

      2. I think it’s Cyril because it might’ve been the naiad the threw him there and told him, “one day someone will come to save you tell us about him when he does…” or when he was in the corruption drunk with that potion thing he ran into the naiad, didn’t know who they were and accidently mentioned the chosen one and they asked more about this “chosen one but Cyril refuses so the naiad said “How About for a Scooby snack and then he said everything about Maxx and they just laughed, removed that conversation from his head with the muramasa or a chaos ball, and took off.

  5. Boul of 2 GoldFish

Hey,cant wait to see maxx throwing some gold coins to June and the Dirt Rod floating to him…

      1. if it works then it is good, the one i got is a wip source mod which i am having trouble finishing because its not my mod and im not good enough yet…. 🙁

      2. Well, Ive already done the dual wielding and Anonymous_99 tested it with me, its easier than your idea…. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier. With mods you got to think what would be easy and what would be hard, if you every want me to mod anything in terraria (or minecraft, im going to get back into that soon) email me at gakupo.gumi@gmail.com (anyone can email here) and ill give your idea a go 😀

  6. The sword on the left… It looks like the Cron Sword. You think they were able to retrieve it after the Eye of Cthulhu was dead? (Maxx didn’t even bother looking for the sword, and it was before June came to camp)

    1. …Debatable. The color scheme is off, and the hilt is differently. Besides that, the Cron Sword broke.

To me, it looks more like the swords are elementally charged. One for water, one for flame.

      1. Actually if your re-visit the comic, It split in two with the blade missing and max kept the handle. They could could of been collected and reforged to make it stronger.

      2. The sword on the left looks more like the Bee Keeper.

Just an opinion, but I think it’s pretty plausible.

  7. I just noticed the running gag of improvised weaponry.
Hammush, Cron Sword, Heartpoon, and shampoo.
    What’s next?

    1. The angelic prophecies state that Maxx coud be either the destroyer of all things or a bowl of two goldfish.

      Remember?

    1. Maybe the dungeon is the new palace place. I guess this could be the dungeon… I just remember pinkish dungeons more for some reason.

    2. That really makes sense, cince the Dungeon and the Jungle are ALWAYS opposite directions…

    1. They mean in the beginning of the comic, angel said that Maxx could heal the world,or destroy it,they want Maxx to destroy the world.

      1. My actual guess is Aley. He has the capabilities to flee camp (if he must), And if you recall Junes Dirt Rod was the only thing that made him “Behave”. Now that’s Junes gone…

  8. I get the feeling I know who the informant is… but not saying.

In other news: Why do I get the feeling that even the Naiad are not going to like Maxx?

Also… I still get the feeling that Maxx is going to be the one who makes the Destroyer of Worlds and that was what was being foretold in prophecy.

  9. I use fen555 too much, I should use something else

    “We need… a destroyer”
*I think about The Destroyer Boss”

      1. To be or not to be anonymous... Hmn..

Do you remember the Angels’s prophecy? Maxx will be the savior or the destroyer of all things (or both or a bowl of two goldfish). He could be the destroyer

  10. Its probably Aley the fairy. Think about it, “the NPCs don’t like him” could mean that this informant isn’t an NPC. He was there during the Eye of Cthulhu thing, so he fits into the time period. Also, his background is that of having no past relations ties, nothing. Seems a bit suspicious, eh?

    1. The one guy said “snitch”, which oooooooobviously references to the golden snitch in harry potter. And who of the npcs looks like the golden snitch?
      Indeed.
      Hannah.

      1. Hannah?

        Don’t you mean aley?

Also, snitch is a synynom for tattletale, so… in case you didn’t know.

  11. Either that or the merchant. He’s a bit less moral compared to the others, and the demo seems sincere enough. Or maybe it’s someone we haven’t seen yet. OR THE CAMERAPERSON.

      1. He could have been informed of it, since we did have the slightest of timeskips, during which he could have been informed.

  12. WOW It took me some time to realise, but thay guy called Juniper JUNE! That might be a hint to a shared past…

    1. The guy who is kneeling looks like the black robed guy in this comic and Xyvareth has the same blue hair as the other guy.

  13. I think the blue hair guy is some sort of Prince? Black cloak guy could be a former advisor to Xyvareth, or he could be the one pulling the strings since the start

  14. Juniper is a problem… BUT JUNIPER IS LEAVING

WHAT WILL YOU MAKE OF IT
(I can make a hat, or a little boat!)

  15. Wow! You didnt let us down Jesse! Cant wait to see where you’re going with all of this. Congratulations on 300!

  16. haha I read the last panel and said to myself: dun dun dun!!! then I read Jesse’s description. laughing my posterior off.

  17. The spy is Tyrone. I mean, come on. He has a pair of binoculars, sells illegal things, and is mostly a comic relief character. Obviously he’s the spy.

  18. The informant has to be the guide because hes been thru evrything together with maxx so it makes sense that its him. Also maxx isnt a destroyer hes a fishbowl

  19. A: This comic is starting to feel like shadow of the colosuss
B: I know that they mean the hardmode boss called the destroyer
