Well, it is very hard to follow lots of different adventures, (I am a busy flower you know) but from what I have seen, Cyril’s “team” is struggling to instal an oscillator, or any substitute for an oscillator.

I have read the entire comic in about a week and I might have a theory (or two) regarding the psychic state June is in (being angry at everything and everyone):
1. She does her job for centuries already and saw dozens, or even hundreds of heroes die. Maybe by mundane means like slipping from a stairwell or dying a heroic death of the battlefield.
2. My personal favourite: June had a close relationship with one of the previous Heroes (Let’s call him Steve, because I feel original today…) and maybe even fell for him later on.
Maybe he was personality-wise a guy ala Aragorn or Jon Snow, regal, nice, but competent and approachable, and that was what draw the Dryad to him.
June and Steve maybe went to hell and back, bested monsters and dangers of all kinds, all while he kept his eyes on his main objective: Defeating the Corruption at all costs.
He fought beasts with all his skill as never defeated, and at the same time a romance blossomed (no pun intended) between the hero and…
…our favourite Dryad.
Maybe Steve even ran into Xane a few times, and either was able to escape or maybe even defeated him a few times.
Until one day, when Steve was on his way to finally bring the Corruption to its end, Xane (or some other nasty creature) appeared again, and managed to strike the hero down while he was unprepared.
In his last breath Steve uttered one thing, maybe along the lines of ‘I love you…’ and that was a nail in the coffin ofher nice personality. June became bitter,shut herself off the outer world and became the June we know now.
His skill and personality made her believe that no other hero could get as far as he did, or even worse: BE like Steve.
And then Maxx happened:
In her eyes, Maxx is the absolute opposite of Steve: Dumb, chaotic and absolutely incompetent, as well as only surviving through sheer dumb luck, instead of skill, cunning and wisdom.
Another fact that supports my theory is her pet name ‘Juney’ as it makes her angry. Maybe it…
…was her pet name as a child, Steve found out and teased her with it. Later it became her pet name he called her with. And that makes her angry because she sees Steve’s face whenever she hears that name.
My theory seems far-fetched, but what is your opinion?
And I hate the fact that posts are cut short…
That’s deep, sounds possible but maybe Jesse hasn’t even delved in that for into every character’s backstory not in direct relation to the plot.

I can tell you that from Cyrils perspective, she just seems like a moody dryad. But perhaps your theory is correct. After all, I am only a flower.
