Comic #348

Clearly, Maxx and co. have never played Metal Gear.

This comic seemed funny to me when I first came up with the script, but after making it I realized that it made less sense than originally considered, and revised it a little bit. Hopefully the end result makes sense.

    1. Oh, goody, Nigel’s back. p.s. That actually wasn’t 100% sarcasm. That was about 42.893% sarcasm.

    1. The Goblin tinkerer has a German accent, some people think it’s a reference to the medic in Team fortress 2

  1. What’s the Tinkerer going to do when he realizes going right is just a dead end? In case anyone forgot, Aley completely coated the area with 65 layers of snow back there.

      1. It would actually still be a dead end, because in the comic just after the avalanche, Cryil was stuck in east side of the tunnel. (lol) So really, all that Aley did, was bween open a small spot that was covering open a huge cave system.

  2. Airholes in boxes seem to be the bane of wizards on every world. Doesn’t matter if its a 2d world or a round one on 4 elephants on a turtle…

    1. I belive that’s it’s supposed to be the world on a turtle on an elephant, which stands on another elephant, which stands on another elephant, which stands on another elephant, and so on to the bottom. I have no idea what’s on the bottom, but I pity it because it has an infinite number of elephants on its back. And a turtle. And the entire world.

      1. It’s from an actual religeon’s mythology. Go Google it and find the name. It’s a thing.

      2. Mr Thorbjoern was almost definatly referencing Terry Pratchet, not some obscure religion that you can’t even name.

    2. I see what you did there. Seems like people find the links between my comic and Discworld even when I didn’t intend them… maybe I do it subconsciously.

  3. Metal Gear 101. Boxes work as hiding places even in areas where the box does not belong… like in an ice cave.

  4. Ah, video game references. I like it.
I guess that those guys are just too experienced with weird crap to react to it.

    1. I think there’s a medium-sized airhole on the side
Besides, the bottom isn’t sealed. air could leak through.

  5. Reminds me of the time I used a photocopier to sneak through the police station in Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

      1. I did in the end get caught and I was forced to chuck the photocopier. Should have been using a vending machine.

      2. That’s hilarious, I love how forgiving stealth games are. Most people would notice if the photocopier kept moving every time they turned looked away…

      3. Well Deus Ex really isn’t a stealth game it is just part of it, but yes I love how a little creativity breaks a game that is designed around letting you go about stuff the way you want.

      1. Eh, my toaster is pretty crummy. But my microwave is worse, it irradiates your food without heating it in any way.

      2. My brother made a charcoal cheese sandwich in the microwave when he was little. Long story short the toaster oven takes 10 minutes to make a grilled cheese sandwich.

      3. Our toaster actually heats up food, just waaay too much. We always put it on the LOWEST setting, and it still browns edges. Our microwave is great though. 😀

      4. Once put some cheese sauce in a microwave that came out looking and smelling like an old person’s foot.

      5. I have a great toaster and microwave but the microwave time setting is a nightmare if you want to make something by time like say 1:45 when I press one it just starts the microwave by one minute
